Kodecheck
KODECHECK is designed to achieve two major objectives:
- Ensure that a Fire Sprinkler System should always be ‘Fit for Purpose’ by encouraging code compliant Routine Inspections & Tests.
- Provide the Emergency Services and others, with Pertinent, Accurate, and Up-to-the-Minute status information.
The Routine Inspections & Tests are supported by :
- Encapsulating the Requirements of the Code within the system.
- Automating as many of the Test procedures as the codes will allow.
- Deskilling much of the Inspection routines.
- Providing a Menu driven 'Walkthrough' for users to follow.
- Alerting those responsible of any malfunctions, anomalies, and non-compliant activities.
- Validating results and keeping a permanent record of every event and activity.
The Emergency services and others benefit by being able to :
- Confirm that a Fire Sprinkler System has been routinely tested in accordance with a Code Standard, and should therefore be fully serviceable.
- Extract a comprehensive status report about the Fire Sprinkler System.
- Dynamically monitor the operation of a Sprinkler System when called into operation.
- Communicate this information directly to where it is required, Fire Command Vehicle, AHJ, Building Owner etc.
- Utilise the comprehensive store of collected data to underpin the Post Fire
SYSTEM COMPONENTS
EN 54 compliant Control Panel
The KODECHECK Control Panel provides an addressable loop communications link to up to 256 Remote Modules, and has been designed to comply with the ‘Life Safety’ requirements of the European Standard EN 54. The unit therefore contains its own battery back-up facility, capable of providing continued operation for at least 24 hours without a ‘mains’ supply, whilst providing power to the Remote Modules.
The Control Panel contains its own LCD display, and Menu driven keys, that facilitate set-up, commissioning,
and operation. The unit also incorporates a Primary Alarm output, and an Ethernet connection to enable
access and control from a remote computer, hosting the KODECHECK Data Management Software. Analysis Report.
Measurement Transducers
A range of compatible measurement transducers are provided to enable KODECHECK to undertake a comprehensive appraisal of a Fire Sprinkler System installation.
These include :
- Pressure,
- Flow,
- Temperature,
- Speed,
- Depth
Remote Testing Devices
To ensure Code compliant testing of Alarm valves and Flow-switches, and to facilitate a degree of automation, these approved remote testing devices are fitted in place of an ordinary Alarm valve and Flow-switch in new builds, and can be retro-fitted to existing installations, without draining-down.
Once in place, they enable the Alarm Valve / Flow-switch to be tested remotely in accordance with the Codes, in an efficient way, without the necessity to waste large amounts of water. The units are supplied ‘Pre-wired’ and require only a fused ‘mains’ spur and connection to the ‘data loop’ for operation.
ZONE FLOW SWITCHES
To automate a Code compliant test, Project Fire Global has developed a pre-built and tested addressable Zone Flow-switch unit, and optional Monitored Valve. Additionally the unit is able to measure the actual flow under operating conditions.
WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
Apart from the provision of a high and low level alarm, KODECHECK also monitors the supply Pressure, any associated Monitored Valves, the actual depth of water in the tank, and when in operation, the rate of Flow, both incoming and outgoing.
ELECTRIC PUMP SYSTEM
In addition to monitoring the Pump Control Panel, KODECHECK also monitors the Pump cooling Temperature, Operational Speed, Flowrate, and any associated monitored Valves.
DIESEL PUMP SYSTEM
In addition to monitoring the Pump Control Panel, KODECHECK also monitors the Battery Charger Status, Battery Status, Fuel Level, Pump Cooling Temperature, Operational Speed, Flow-rate, and any associated Monitored Valves.
SYSTEM PRESSURE SWITCHES
KODECHECK monitors all of the system pressure switches, but in addition, it also monitors the actual system pressure, so it records the actual pressure that any pressure switch operates. In the case of the pressure switch associated with the Jockey Pump, KODECHECK will also record the frequency of operation, and the period of operation.
ALARM VALVES
To provide a degree of automation, and facilitate Code compliant testing, Project Fire Global is able to supply a pre-built and tested addressable Alarm Valve with integrated monitoring and test. The unit also monitors the status of all associated Monitored Valves.
To provide comprehensive management, and support Code compliant routine Inspection & Test regimes, KODECHECK monitors and controls every key function throughout the installation, including:
- Water Supply
- Electric Fire Pumps
- Diesel Fire Pumps
- Alarm Valves
- Control Panels
- System Pressure Switches
- Zone Flow-switches/sensors
- Pump Proving Facilities
The Building owner and the AHJ are secure in the knowledge that EVERY event is recorded with an accurate Date & Time stamp.
Because KODECHECK continually monitors all of the key parameters of a sprinkler system, and records every event, it is able to provide valuable information to the Emergency Services. In the event of a Fire KODECHECK can relay this information directly to a command vehicle, so the Officer in Charge is always able to operate the most effective strategy for dealing with the emergency.
Typical examples of the pertinent, accurate, up-to-the-minute information KODECHECK is able to make available are:
- The time when the first sprinkler head went off
- Which Fire Pump operated, and when
- The probable number of sprinkler heads in operation
- The time elapse between each sprinkler head becoming operative
- The total amount of water being discharged by the system
- An estimate of how long the water tank can maintain supply
- Fuel usage for the Diesel Pump
- The operating Pressure and Flow of the Fire Pump
- The operating Temperature of the Pump unit
- Confirmation of when the system was last tested
- Access to routine Inspection & Test histories
