Zonecheck FAQs
1. Is Zonecheck approved?
Zonecheck® is approved by; Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual (FM) and VdS. It is also certificated by many Country specific Approval Bodies.
2. What additional wiring is required?
In a typical installation of a flow-switch,wiring must be provided from the flow-switch to the fire alarm panel. Zonecheck requires wiring from the local power supply to the key-switch, a power supply from the key-switch to the circulating pump and wiring from the flow-switch, via the double pole switch, to the keyswitch for conformation of a successful test.
3. What are the power requirements of Zonecheck?
The Zonecheck Pump draws 0.88 amps and 185 watts as a maximum power rating, on single phase 230 Volts 50 Hz supply. Each Zonecheck circulating pump can be wired locally to its position from a suitable supply.
4. How often does the Flow-switch require testing?
A quarterly test is mandated by NFPA 25, whereas if the building is Factory Mutual Global (FM) insured, testing is required monthly.
5. Which pipe sizes are Zonecheck available in?
The assembled unit is available in models to suit Ø50, Ø65, Ø80, Ø100 and Ø150mm pipe diameters.
6. What are the general dimensions of Zonecheck?
The overall length of Zonecheck is 650 mm regardless of the manifold diameter. Where a flow-switch is already installed, Zonecheck Retrofit models are available to fit any size of approved flow-switch. See Zonecheck brochure/drawings (available for download here).
7. Can Zonecheck be used for addressable systems?
Yes, Zonecheck be used for addressable systems. Please contact us for full technical details.
8. Are there any limits to the number of Zonechecks that can be tested at one time using the group test facility?
This is dependant on the practical limitations, such as the electrical supply to the Zonechecks and the number of alarms that can practically be received.
9. Can we monitor remotely from a computer screen?
Zonecheck has no effect on the primary flow-switch signal wiring where Building management systems (BMS) and fire alarm panels have alarm receiving capabilities; these will remain independent from Zonecheck.
10. Does each Zonecheck require a different key for activation?
No, all the keys for Zonecheck are universal (keyed the same), hence Zonecheck having the facility to test from any single keyswitch when all Zonecheck units are interconnected.
11. What is involved in the maintenance of Zonecheck?
Zonecheck is a fully approved product and is 100% factory tested at works and carries a 3-year guarantee. In addition to this, at our UK headquarters, as part of our continuing research and development programme we have successfully carried out cyclic testing equivalent to hundreds of years of operation. Zonecheck is a well engineered product, however, you can never say never. We have incorporated two isolating valves to isolate the moving parts and an air vent valve to release air locks. This means that the circulator can be replaced without having to drain down the system.
12. Where has Zonecheck been installed?
Zonecheck is a UK product and has achieved 90% of the UKs market share. Only recently has it begun to be marketed on a global scale. Typical installations include: High Rise Buildings, Airports, Hotels, Shopping Centres, Residential buildings and Office Blocks. Case Studies are available here.
